As someone without children of my own, I find it challenging at times to educate parents about their children. I appreciate that there was information about what language to use with parents and that it was presented in a way that makes me feel empowered to educate parents about their child’s developmental level. As a few others have mentioned, I also appreciated the information about what is developmentally normal and what may be a “red flag” signifying a delay.

I typically work with children with developmental delays, so I am eager to see how I can apply this information to my current population.

Hi friends! My name is Amanda and I am located in Philadelphia. I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree one year ago from Temple’s music therapy program, and I am currently the music therapist at the CNNH (Center for Neurological and Neurodevelopment Health) in Voorhees, NJ. The ages and abilities of clients are widely varied, which has given me a lot of insight into how my skill set matches up with different populations. In working with my youngest clients, I have taken a strong interest in music therapy and early childhood.

I saw Beth present at the MAR-AMTA conference in March where she mentioned this training and I immediately knew I’d have to enroll. I am looking to gain knowledge on the development and learn knew music that I can bring to my clients. I am also trying to organize an intergenerational music therapy group in my community (shoutout to Hilary!). I hope this training could be helpful in facilitating that, as well. Thanks so much for having me!
