I was trained within a sensory integration model and will definitely be bringing this approach to early childhood. I currently work with a team that includes speech, OT, and PT. Being able to collaborate and speak this same ‘language’ of prioritizing sensory needs and achieving an optimal level of arousal as foundation has been such an awesome experience. I love working with families and I bring my passion for meaningful connection to this population.
ParticipantMy valuable take away was the idea that each developmental stage is representative of how that child is exploring and making sense of their world at that time. Knowing different milestones is key to understanding a child’s overall experience of their surroundings and what that means for us as we offer support. Understanding the different developmental stages can help us make a more meaningful connection by tapping into how a child is already naturally engaging with their environment so we can build from those strengths.
ParticipantHello! My name is Christine Wick and I live in Juneau, Alaska with my husband and two dogs, Earl and Matcha 🙂 We moved up here for my husband’s work and absolutely fell in love with Juneau. I’ve been a music therapist for almost 5 years and just started my own practice last fall. Most of my experience has been working with both children and adults with developmental disabilities in both the clinic and in-home settings. Along with my private practice, I recently just accepted a part-time position providing music therapy services within a Part-C Infant Learning Program. I love working with families and I’m really excited to increase my knowledge and hone my skills, specifically within this developmental model. I’m hoping to gain more confidence when discussing and supporting specific developmental stages to be able to readily provide families with tools that are meaningful and specific to their priorities.
