Hi Zoe,
Thank you for your insightful story. It sounds like the material here is really informing your work.
ModeratorHi Morgan,
Do you see a blue bar above each person’s response with “reply” on it?
I thought each person had this option. If not I can reach out to our tech team to check on that.
ModeratorI enjoyed reading all of your responses and the unique qualities you each bring to early childhood work.
ModeratorHi Maura,
I enjoyed reading your response. I think you bring up some important considerations we all need to keep in mind.
I’m glad the book will be helpful!-Erika
ModeratorHi Everyone,
I’m looking forward to reading everyone’s responses and dialogues.
A few helpful reminders:
1. Be sure to keep a copy of all of your responses in a word processing document in case there there are any technical issues as you post.
2. Be sure to check back throughout the training so you can read through and connect with other participants. We have found that these aides each participant in getting the full depth of the training.
3. Please reach out, if you are having any trouble throughout the training. This includes if you find you are falling more than 2 weeks behind. We are here to support you through the training.
I check this forum about 2-3 times a week, so if you ask a question here I may not respond for a few days.
Warmly,
Erika
ModeratorHi Zoe,
I enjoyed reading your response. How wonderful you found this section valuable for your work. I also found this section to be useful in viewing the developmental stages from a global perspective as I worked with non-neurotypical children. As you read through Elizabeth’s book you will find a helpful guide to assess and identify needs and to create goals. I found it helpful to have next to me all the time, as I worked. A few years into my Sprouting Melodies journey, Elizabeth had shared that she created the book to be a “working resource” so you can go to it as you need.
Thank you for sharing with all of us.

ModeratorHello everyone. My name is Erika Svolos. I am the online moderator for this training. I live in New Jersey with my husband, my almost 7-year-old daughter, and our cat Moose. It is a joy to be a part of this fantastic program and to join in your Sprouting Melodies journey. I am a graduate of Marywood University, currently, a graduate student at Montclair State University, and have been a music therapist in New Jersey for over 20 years. Over that time, I have worked in a variety of settings including in-patient child/adolescent psychiatry, a private clinic for autism, a large urban public school system, private practice, a private special education high school for individuals with emotional and behavioral disorders, and a private Orthodox Jewish special education school. In August 2013 I started my own business/private practice; Music Therapy Services of New Jersey, LLC. I completed the April 2013 Sprouting Melodies online training and it was a wonderful addition to my practice. I began offering Sprouting Melodies classes in February of 2014 and I’ve truly enjoyed working with my SM families. I have been moderating the Sprouting Melodies Online Training for the past 7 years.
I will be assisting with any questions and/or technical difficulties.
You will be receiving an email with information about the online forum technology and my contact information. If you do not receive the email, please contact me at erika.svolosmtbc@gmail.com.
