Hello!

My name is Kelsi Tafaro, and I’m so excited to learn more about early childhood development through the Sprouting Melodies course now more than ever since I recently had my first child 4.5 months ago!

I attended Shenandoah University where I completed my degree in music therapy and also attended Shenandoah University for my Master’s in Special Education. I interned at The Early Beginning Academy at the United Cerebral Palsy in Miami, FL. under the supervision of Amy Kalas, MT-BC, where I provided educationally relevant music therapy services to children ages Pre-K to 2nd grade. Following my internship, I moved back to Virginia to complete my Master’s degree in Special Education and began working in private practice. In 2015, I started my own music therapy private practice, NeuroSound Music Therapy, which serves the Northern Virginia area with music therapy services. My practice offers individual music therapy, adapted lessons and enrichment groups, including social-emotional groups, developmental groups, etc. In addition, I’ve worked for the school system as an autism program teacher, special education department chair, and most recently, a consultant for specialized music integration and music therapy in the special education classrooms.

I’m excited to continue to expand my knowledge in early childhood development and how children interact and experience music. I’m hoping this course will assist me in expanding our services and ensuring they are relevant for our clients and community! This course is even more exciting to me as I interact with my 4.5 month old son and experience the world of music through his eyes! -
