First i have to say how much i loved this course. for a few years i’ve been searching on how to mix music therapy and early childhood and this training came to me in perfect timing to start my own program.
This training more than change something gave me something. it gave me the info i needed to feel confortable structuring my sessions with more material that has already been design for this specific area.
I will tell families or friends that my program is a music therapy based program focused on using music to help early childhood development. I want to share also how music has always been in our development since we were on our moms belly and try to make others concious about how is music always affecting our life and how to used it for good.

What I am most exited about is the repetoire and estructure given. It gave me a base to work always putting first the childs developmental stage. That was what I was looking for to learn with this training and I am ver happy with what I’ve learned.

If I see that I am lossing a childs atettion I change the song and try to give him or her a maraca or something to engage. If its a baby I would try to pass the drum, make him touch it while singing and continue. The objective is to get his attention back to the session and music.

Well i think the challenge is the stage in their development. where some of them are crawling, others are running discovering the world. To got their attention for some would be shorter the time than others. i think we need to be very aware about how the group is developing in the class and make the music work for it.

The big difference is the music therapy approach. i would tell the parents that we use music as a tool to enrich and stimulate the development of the child. our goal is not for the child to learn music, music theory or for him to become a musician. is for him to take the best of this music experiences and help him in his growth.

I think that every child will react in a different way to a stimuly that is presented and that is one factor to keep in mind but also on how is the child that particular day. maybe it is not a good day for them, they don’t want anything, or could be the other way around. Thats why we as music therapist have to observe, connect with the kid a see what his needs are in that moment so we can stop or take to an end our session.

For This develpmental stage it would be shakers, scarves, bells, also sticks. but what i love the most are the drums. Remo is a brand that i love. i think is a great sound quality and also very friendly in their material to make it resistent for kids.

For me Music Therapist can make a big difference and break paradigms. We are there to help others but we use a tool that every single person loves and that give us a strength, a way to connect, to bring people and communities together.

My most recent experience with this age is my 5 month old baby. I sing to him, play the guitar, let him explore some instruments for his age and i love so see his responses. It is amazing how music can totally shift his temper at any time, calm him, and get him excited.

young families love having this bonding moments with their kids, in my community that concept is very powerful right know, the concept of bonding time. i believe music therapy can give that, can help families bond. Also i think we are a generation that love to know how can think affect or react in our brain, and music makes magic in there. so music therapist have to share all the knowledge and also keep learning on how music affects the brain and development of kids. Share that with families will make them believe even more in the power of music.
