ParticipantHello Destiny,
I had a lot of similar take-aways! The rhythmic sucking was something I had not even thought about before listening to the video! I already have thought of some ways to utilize music to help with that concept! I am so excited to dive into the musical connections to the developmental stages as well! I think it will really bring everything together! Thanks for sharing!

ParticipantHello Elizabeth,
Thanks for sharing your take-aways from this week. I also have spent a lot of time working with clients that have various developmental disabilities so I too feel like my mind normally doesn’t go to what typical development looks like. So it seems like a shift in the thinking, but I think this knowledge will help use in both areas of typical development and developmental disabilities. I also thought the red-flags were helpful and gave me some ideas of how to approach conversations with the parents as those things may arise.

ParticipantThere was a lot of valuable information to take in this week on early childhood development. I have taking a human life span class that covered some of this material, but this was more extensive and broke down the age groupings with more detail so that was so super helpful. It still feels a little overwhelming to think of recalling this information in the moment, but I am sure as we start connecting more of the information to the musical concepts in the next few weeks it will get better. I also like the discussion of how to reassure parents and inform them when they are concerned about typical development. Having this knowledge base will help with that!
ParticipantHello Kristen,
Wow! You have traveled a lot and have a lot of experiences that I would love to hear more about! I am originally from Illinois, but I moved to Minnesota about 8 years ago. I love it here so I am excited you ended up finding a job in the Mankato area! Thanks for sharing with us!
ParticipantSteve,
I am so excited that we are going to be working for the same organization!!! It is crazy that we have been in the same cohort at Augsburg, and now working alongside each other!:)
ParticipantHello Everyone! Sorry I am coming into this training late, but I am excited to be here! My name is Megan Lakemacher, and I live in the Minneapolis area in Minnesota! I live in an apartment with my husband in Eden Prairie, and we are both in school studying! I am currently finishing up my last class as an equivalency Masters of Music Therapy student at Augsburg University! I recently accepted a position with Living Spirit Therapy Services, LLC that will start in September! Grateful to be getting a chance to do this training on providing music therapy with a focus on childhood development! During my internship at St. Paul Public Schools, I worked with students from the age of 5 to 19 years old, and I have developed a passion for helping kids grow and learn through musical experiences! I am excited to dive in and try to catch with up in next few weeks :)!
