ParticipantI agree that the red flags were so helpful. It’s difficult when you are either only seeing those with delays to know what is actually “normal” and what needs intervention. Or if you’re working with mostly “typically developing” children and can’t compare to what needs intervention.
Children change so fast in so little time and these guidelines for each 6-12 month period of their lives is super helpful.ParticipantHi there!
I’m Alicia Little and I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I currently work at Children’s Hospital 3 days a week and a preschool for children that have experienced abuse and neglect the other 2 days a week. I also have a few individual clients I see in their homes through the private practice I work for. The preschool I work at is passionate about providing music making opportunities for students and their families. We host a monthly family night and I get to lead those groups quarterly. I enjoy teaching families how to interact and bond with their children through music, but I’m definitely excited to have a larger repertoire of teaching tools.
At my work at the hospital I’ve found that a lot of parents don’t know how to interact with their children while they are sick. My music therapy colleagues and I host weekly groups at the hospital for kids that are well enough to leave their rooms- I would love to take what I learn from this course and transfer it to the hospital setting.
Children’s Minnesota has a vision of being every child’s partner in health- whether in or out of the medical setting. Our music therapy department would love to expand our services to reach the greater Twin Cities community through music.I look forward to learning from and alongside each of you.
Peace,
Alicia -
