Thank you, Erika. I had looked Under Sprouting Melodies review as well as under Sept. 2013 (when I took the training). I was letting you guys know that the videos do not appear to be available.
Thank you for the link Elizabeth. I had fun with 4 babies this morning!

ParticipantOK. I’ve got an outline of what I’ll do. I was hoping to be able to review the videos from when I took the training. Are they still accessible? I see updated slides – Nicely done!
ParticipantHi everyone! I’m glad to have finally become a SMP!! I have established a mini-trial contract with the local public children’s library for one session each of FS, SM1 and MM. I’m very comfortable with ages 12 months and up, but need ideas for working with 0-9 mos. and the brand new parent(s). Does anyone have tips & song resources to help get me started?
Thanks!

5 Things to tell parents/caregivers: 1) It’s ok to let your child explore the environment and the instruments – it’s all part of their development 2) We clean our instruments before they are used again, and we make sure that the instruments we provide have no small parts and are non-toxic; Don’t worry if your child needs to mouth the instruments. 3) Each child will progress at his/her own pace. It’s ok if your child is not always doing the activity, sometimes they need to watch, and later will surprise you by doing the activity spontaneously! 4) This class offers a safe environment for the little ones to explore, making new friends and knowing that you are close by to go back to. 5) Help your child to plant feet firmly on the ground while moving them up and down to provide more stability and security.
Session: Hello song – Good Morning; Bonding – Trot Old Joe; Songs about Me- Just Like Me; Instrument Experience – Shake Your Instruments; Movement Experience – March with My Baby; Goodbye Song

5 Things to tell parents/caregivers: 1) Don’t worry if you think you can’t sing, the voice your child loves to hear the most is *your* voice! 2) Did you hear that?! Your child is vocalizing in response to your singing! 3) Babies respond well to songs with higher pitches. 4) Gently touching your baby when singing it’s name increases awareness 5) This class is a great place to really bond with your child through music.
Session: Hello song – Good Morning; Bonding – Songs about Me- Just Like Me; Instrument Experience- w/jumbo chiquita; Movement Experience w/scarves; Goodbye Song

We are in a great position to recognize developmental delays and help families to seek early intervention services. Plus *we* have the tools assist those families, within our scope of practice, in our classes.
November 18, 2013 at 4:05 pmParticipantOne of the neatest phases I enjoy witnessing is the control stage. Especially when a child spontaneously dances to music or sings spontaneous songs.

in reply to: Where will you go from here? How will this training impact your work as a music therapist?
ParticipantI am sure that by becoming a SM provider, my practice will continue to grow, and I thank Beth and Meredith both for this opportunity. I have gone from providing MT exclusively to schools to providing services to other facilities in the community (Nursing homes) and accepting private clients. Beginning a SM program will take my business to the next level of serving the *community* by helping to strengthen family and community bonds, unifying diverse groups together as they become music makers.

in reply to: How are you planning on sharing this information with colleagues, administrators and families?
ParticipantThis morning, I shared with a a couple of people from the gallupARTS board that I plan to begin early childhood music classes in January at our Multicultural Center. In both of these conversations, the respond was that I should utilize the stage of our historic theater that is in the center of down town. Great idea! So… already, people are receptive to SM classes coming to town. These two people (and many others) want to keep our downtown business district alive. Yesterday, we received news that the downtown is now designated as a state Arts and Culture District. The board of gallupARTS sees the value in bringing early childhood music to the Arts DIstrict to cultivate arts and culture long into the future. I’m excited to launch the SM program! And the timing couldn’t be better here in Gallup. The next step (after I become a provider!) will be to market services to families and the surrounding communities.

in reply to: Share what you are most looking forward to as you become a Sprouting Melodies provider.
ParticipantI am looking forward to launching the SM program, hopefully in January. I have been approached by our local paper about advertising my services (for my business) weekly for 6 months at a special promotional ad rate. I plan to begin my marketing by announcing classes at our multicultural center, with space and some grant $$ provided by the Southwest Indian Foundation.
I look forward to connecting to the community as a SM provider and possibly connecting families to others services they may need.
I look forward to growing my business by providing children with this solid foundation and love for music.
Thank you, Elizabeth and Meredith, for offering this opportunity to all MT-BC’s!

in reply to: Share some strategies you have used to assure every child in your groups is successful.
ParticipantLike others, I determine what supports are needed to ensure success. I make sure to engage with each child at his/her level. I provide educational moments for the caregivers. And, I provide opportunities for exploration and discovery.
